5 generations loving cork since 1893

Who are we and what do we do?

At LlenasNaturCork we are specialized in developing and manufacturing custom cork products. We are passionate about working with this material for many reasons: it is sustainable, unique, close and linked to the history of our territory.

We are a family business founded in 1893, and since then 5 generations of our family have worked here. We have great experience in the cork industry and we are excited to develop new products in collaboration with designers, craftsmen, entrepreneurs, etc.

Our values

Ecology

We are proud to work with one of the greenest materials out there. The cork we use comes from sustainable farms and we have the PEFC certificate accrediting it. To complement it, we offer different finishes and treatments that are also ethical and environmentally friendly.

Proximity

More than 90% of the cork we use comes from the Gavarres forests, at less than 20km from our facilities. We collaborate with customers and suppliers in the area, as we have done throughout our history.

Economia circular

The waste material that is generated during manufacture is selled to other companies that give it a new life. Discarded cork is crushed to make blocks of agglomerated cork, which we use to make new products. Therefore, the waste we generate is minimal.

Cork benefits

Harvesting without cutting the tree

Cork is the bark of the cork oak (quercus suber). This bark is peeled when it is thick enough to work with it, which is usually every 12 years. It should be noted that the tree is not cut and it doesn't suffer when the cork is collected. After the peeling, the cork oak continues living and grows a new bark. This makes the impact of obtaining cork on the ecosystem almost non-existent. It can be said that cork harvesting is more similar to a fruit tree than to wood.

Fights climate change

The cork oak fixes a large amount of CO2 in the atmosphere to produce cork through photosynthesis. On average, the tree captures 20 to 30 times more CO2 than what is emitted to make a cork product. The carbon atoms that make up cork are the same ones that had been in the atmosphere in the form of CO2, which acted as a greenhouse gas and contributed to global warming.

Good for the environment

Cork oak has many other benefits for the environment. It is resistant to forest fires, generates biodiversity in forests and prevents soil degradation. By using local cork, we also contribute to the local economy with the cork peelers, carriers and maintaining our forests.

We adapt to your project

Custom cork products

We are specialised in the manufacture of custom cork products and we adapt to the manufacturing quantities depending on the project. Since 1893, 5 generations of our family have worked in the company. We offer our extensive experience to advise you in the materialisation of your idea in cork. We also offer the possibility to design your product in 3D.

Digital and traditional manufacturing

We combine digital manufacturing with traditional manufacturing to get the product you need. We have CNC milling machines, laser machines for engraving and cutting, lathes, polishers, etc. We keep in mind the manual work, offering different manufacturing processes and hand finishes. We are confident that we will be able to transform your idea into cork.

Different materials and finishes

We work with different types of cork to use the most suitable for your project: natural cork, agglomerated cork, cork clothes, cork paper, etc. We offer a variety of finishes and treatments to apply the best fit to your product: laser engraving, dyeing, painting, varnishing, etc. All finishes are water-based, sustainable and environmentally friendly.
